U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Approves Revision of the Safety Standard for Soft Baby Bands (16 CFR 1226)

updated standard will enter into force on February 22, 2025. Each soft baby carrier must comply with all applicable regulations in ASTM F2236-24 Consumer Safety Specification for Soft Baby Bands.

Compared with the old version, the biggest change of ASTM F2236-24 is to update the content requirements of product labels and instructions, and increase the warning language to conform to the requirements of ANSI Z535.4-2011 format.

following are the major changes from the old ASTM F2236-16a to the new ASTM F2236-24:

Update the wording of each definition in Article 3, mainly by adding the part of speech of the defined words;

update the terms of Clause 5.7 as Flammability of Soft Infant and Toddler Carriers;

Update the formulation of Clause 5.7.2;

Add Clause 5.7.3 stating that non-toy accessories sold with or attached to the Product also need to comply with the requirements of Clause 5.7;

update the requirements of clauses 8 & 9 regarding product labeling and instructions.
